Scope and Content Note

This record series consists of carbon copies of typed transcripts pertaining to the minutes of regular New York State previous hit Athletic Commission next hit meetings. The meetings were held at various sites but most often at the Commission office in New York City. The business discussed includes: appointment of referees and inspectors; complaints against contestants; rules; granting of licenses to clubs; and finances (expense accounts, etc.). Most of the discussion relates to boxing.

A1372-09: This accretion contains minutes of the earlier New York State Boxing Commission from its creation in 1920 until its replacement by the New York State previous hit Athletic Commission next hit in 1921 (Chapter 714). Also included are minutes of the License Committee for the years 1920-1926. After the apparent disbanding of this committee in 1926, its duties and activities appear to have been carried out by the full commission.
